A wall bed does not have to look like a compromise. With A-BED, the bed disappears into a wardrobe that is designed as a piece of fine furniture — and it can be built to match any interior style, from shabby chic and English classic to modern minimalism.
Furniture first, bed second
Most wall beds are built around the mechanism, and the cabinet is an afterthought. A-BED works the other way round. During the day you see a double-door wardrobe with real proportions, panels and details. At night, the doors open, the bed lowers automatically with a remote, and in the morning it folds back out of sight.
That makes A-BED a natural fit for rooms where appearance matters: a living room, a library, a guest room that is also a sitting room, or a refined studio apartment.
Shabby chic: soft, light and romantic
Shabby chic loves painted wood in white, ivory or pastel tones, gently aged finishes, carved details and floral motifs. An A-BED wardrobe can be made in a light painted finish with decorative mouldings and glazed side sections, so it looks like an antique armoire rather than a bed. Add floral bedding and the transformation from parlor to bedroom feels effortless.
English classic: deep wood and bookshelves
For a traditional interior, choose a rich dark wood with paneled doors, crown moulding and open or glazed bookshelves on both sides. Closed, it reads as a library cabinet; open, it reveals a comfortable bed framed by your books.
Modern and Scandinavian: clean lines
In a contemporary space, A-BED can be finished in natural light wood or a solid color with flat fronts and minimal hardware. It blends into a wall of storage and keeps the room calm and uncluttered.
Made to your design
Because we build every A-BED ourselves in Los Angeles, the wardrobe can be customized:
- dimensions to fit your wall or niche;
- wood, paint color and finish;
- doors, mouldings, glazing and hardware;
- built-in shelves and side cabinets;
- weight capacity, mattress type and comfort options.
The basic model is a Twin bed (79 × 39.5 × 18.5 in, 8-inch mattress) in a 94.75 × 75 × 24.5 in wardrobe, with two remote controls and a regular 110V outlet. Production of the basic model takes about two months; custom designs may take longer.
More than a wall bed
A-BED also includes an anti-gravity tilt and a built-in traction device — so the same elegant piece of furniture can become part of your daily wellness routine. If you plan to use traction for a health reason, talk to your doctor first.
